Greenshield Canada is a not-for-profit organization providing comprehensive health benefits services across Canada. As a leader in administration, insurance, and health benefits for groups and individuals, Greenshield faced challenges in digital transformation amid rapid growth.
The Problem
In recent years, Greenshield experienced significant growth, transitioning its services to offer more online support and better reach Canadians. This expansion involved acquiring numerous health, insurance, administration, and pharmacy startups across Canada to consolidate and broaden their service offerings.However, during this period of rapid growth and digital transformation, Greenshield was hindered by an outdated custom-built site on an older CMS system. This platform was challenging to update, expand, and adapt to reflect the evolving nature of their business. They faced issues with device responsiveness, frequent bugs, missing links, and outdated pages. Furthermore, page performance lagged, and the site lacked proper accessibility and SEO best practices.
To overcome these obstacles, Greenshield required a partner capable of restructuring their design system and website from the ground up, ensuring consistency, speed, and flexibility in deploying a revised and modernized website.
The Solution
With a focus on transitioning to Webflow, Greenshield partnered with Flow Sparrow to support their vision of an expansive and modern website that encompasses all their new service offerings. Flow Sparrow focuses on being a small and agile partner to larger organizations, enabling quick movement with minimal bureaucracy.
Our collaboration began by working closely with Greenshield’s lead UX/UI Architect to develop a component-based website design system in Figma, reflecting their current website style. This design system enabled various departments to wireframe and streamline page development, ensuring a consistent design across the entire site.
Leveraging these Figma components, we created mirrored components in Webflow, providing the same flexibility and functionality during development as in the design stages. This approach allowed the Greenshield team to move from wireframe to development with exceptional speed as their business continued to grow and evolve.
To ensure seamless integration and collaboration, the Flow Sparrow team embedded themselves into Greenshield’s project management and communication platforms. This integration facilitated efficient communication and coordination across multiple departments, allowing for the swift and flexible implementation of Greenshield’s new website.
Results and Benefits
The project was completed in 4 months from start to launch. We improved the wireframe to deployment time by over 500%, enabling rapid updates by team members without technical assistance. The speed of implementing changes to the website increased drastically.
